Blizzard has recently announced that there is going to be a StarCraft 2! No launch date mentioned yet, however, read the juicy bits below:
“12:11 AM (May 20) – StarCraft 2 will be an RTS largely in the same vein as its predecessor. The game will feature the same three races: Protoss, Zerg, and Terran. Action will unfold on the same type of 2D plane as before, with multitiered maps that ground units must use ramps to move between. Graphics have been updated significantly, many new units added, and some old units removed. Blizzard was unwilling to divulge much about how the Zerg and Terran forces have changed, but shed some light on the new developments for the Protoss. Story specifics are still being kept under wraps, though from the concept art it seems Kerrigan will somehow be involved.“ [Read all of it here].
This brings back good memories and StarCraft was one of the most popular games played at my university in Pakistan amongst Quake II, Need for Speed and FIFA. We all lived in hostels and had over 500 people on the LAN (allegedly the largest student LAN in Pakistan back then between 1998-2002).
The graphics sure look slick and I hope the gameplay is as good as, if not better than, before .
