I managed to watch both these interesting movies last week. Blood Diamond was a serious flick with a message while Unknown was more of a mystery drama.
It is about the illegal smuggling of diamonds in war zones. In this case the conflict area depicted was Sierra Leone and Leonardo DiCaprio plays a street-smart smuggler whose interest lies in smuggling out diamonds that are being illegally mined by tyrants who brutalize the poor and weak locals. The plot revolves around a priceless diamond hidden by a farmer who has been forced into this job and is in search of his lost family.
We follow Danny Archer (Leo) as he tries to convince the farmer to lead him to this diamond and also the other parties who have the same interest. The movie does a good job of portraying the misery and brutality in a graphic manner and raises the moral burden on buyers of precious stones which may be smuggled illegally out of conflict zones.
I enjoyed watching this one and it was also educational for me to some extent.
This one was intriguing and had a lot of surprises. It is about 5 people who wake up in a warehouse with practically no knowledge of who they are. They soon figure out that two of them have been kidnapped and the other three are the kidnappers. The interesting thing is that they have no clue as to who is who and have to figure this out before the remaining kidnappers arrive at the warehouse.
I’m not going to say anymore and possibly ruin the plot but I will say that it is a good watch.
