Meaning of English names

Practically every-body’s name from where I come from (the general region) as well as here in the Middle East, has a meaning. For example Rohail means dignified, Abdullah means servant of Allah, etc.

It suddenly occurred to me that I had no clue as to what is the meaning of English names. For example; what do William or Thomas mean? Turns out they do mean something (determined guardian and dependable, respectively). Click here to find out the meaning of more English names.
