Bye bye 2007

So another year goes by. Over all an excellent year with lots of happiness and good stuff, both professionally as well as in my personal life. Here’s hoping 2008 is going to be as good as, if not better than 2007!

Regarding new year’s resolutions; I still don’t get the concept. If you want to bring about any positive changes in your life, I don’t see what a new year has to do with it.

I’ve hardly been posting much these days and I’ve got a few interesting things to post about my trip to Bangladesh.

Happy new year everybody!

Rohail’s first steps

Yesterday all of us (Maliha, my parents and Sadia, my sister) were sitting in the living room and Rohail was busy playing the attention-seeker. He can usually stand up for 5-10 seconds and while doing that, all of a sudden he took three steps (albeit side-ways steps) and my dad shouted out, “Look, he’s walking!”. It was pretty amazing to see him do that and after a lot of insisting, he repeated the feat once more to our collective glee.

It was fortunate that so many of us were around to witness his transition from a ‘quadped’ to a ‘biped’. Congrats buddy!

Happy Birthday – Rohail

Rohail turned one year old today! In the past one year he has brought us a lot of happiness and fun times. Here’s wishing him a great day and the best of everything.

Two days ago we got back from our Bangladesh trip and my parents and sister also came from Karachi on the same evening. So its a lot of fun and Rohail is really happy to be with them. He was also happy to meet Maliha’s father and sister’s family.

Flock – a new browser

Flock is a new web browser and works on Windows, MAC and Linux. I’ve not really tried it yet as I’m pretty comfortable with Firefox, however, it seems to have some interesting integration features. In fact, they call it ‘the social web browser’ and it has inter-connectivity with a lot of the popular networking services (eg. Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, YouTube, etc.). It also has extensions similar to Firefox (though I’m guessing its not as extensive currently).

Bus Library

Bus Library

The other day while going home from work (in Dhaka) I noticed this yellow bus filled with books. When my car got closer, I realized it was almost like a library, with rows of books stacked on metal shelves. I got a colleague who could speak Bangla, to translate what it said on the bus and turns out its from the World Literature Centre. It said, “Bishwo (World) Shahitto (Literature) Kendro (Centre), London“. Basically its a non-profit centre that works towards empowering the community and it seems that this library bus is one of their projects. Their website is here.

Have a break, have a Nic Nac

Stumbled upon this chocolate here in Bangladesh.
