Interesting map simulations

The following two links show an interesting simulation of how the main religions spread through the world and a simulation of the different empires that ruled the Middle East respectively:

Happy Eid!

Happy Eid to everybody!

Today it was Eid in Kuwait and we celebrated it as usual by going around visiting friends and family. It started off with a  bunch of phone calls from a lot of people including my parents and sister in Pakistan. After that we went over to Maliha’s parent’s place to have breakfast and then went around meeting our friends. Its usually quite hectic on Eid as we try to meet as many people as possible while stuffing ourselves silly at each stop.

It was Rohail’s first Eid and that certainly made things very interesting. We went over to a photo studio in Salmiya and got a family portrait done along with a couple of snaps of Rohail. We don’t have nearly enough pictures of Rohail put up at our home so we’ve decided to change that.

All in all, it was a fun day and not too tiring either. I’ve got quite a few days off at work and will resume duty from Tuesday.

Pakistan might be celebrating Eid on Sunday.

Amazing Millau Bridge – France

millau.jpg

Yesterday while I was watching an episode of Top Gear, they showed the Millau Bridge which is in France. This is a feat of engineering and takes passengers almost 1000 feet above the Tarn River valley across 1.6 miles.

Jeremy Clarkson humorously pointed out that while the French President spoke of how this is indicative of France’s move towards the future; he forgot to mention that is was designed by a British architect, Norman Foster.

TV shows I’m watching

Last week I finally finished the fifth and last season of Six Feet Under and I must say that it was a sad yet wonderful show.

These days I have started Dexter upon a great deal of persistence from a friend. I’m almost through season one and its quite exciting. Though I should mention that I still don’t agree with him saying that its better than 24. Nothing competes with 24, period.

Other than this we’re almost through with the third season of Grey’s Anatomy. It is one of those shows that you can watch and while it isn’t usually very intense or gripping, it is decent entertainment.

I need to catch up with the second and third seasons of Prison Break. Regarding Lost, I’m ready to cut it loose now – need to do it! Shows I’ve downloaded and might watch later are Heroes, Rome (season 2) and Oz.

Who Am I?
